Omschrijving
The Mercedes-Benz Citaro Hybrid is equipped with a 48-volt mild hybrid system that works alongside the standard diesel engine. It is not a fully electric or plug-in hybrid bus, but an intelligent energy recovery system designed to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
Here?s how it works:
? During braking, the system recovers energy that would otherwise be lost.
? This energy is stored in roof-mounted supercapacitors.
? When the bus accelerates or starts from a stop, the stored energy powers a small electric motor that assists the diesel engine.
Dkedszh A Rxepfx Amgop
? This reduces fuel consumption, lowers CO? emissions, and provides smoother acceleration.
The hybrid system is a separate 48 V electrical system, independent from the bus?s normal 24 V electrical system. Because it operates at low voltage, it is safe, reliable, and does not require the high-voltage components found in full hybrid or electric buses.
The bus is always driven by the diesel engine?the electric motor only provides additional assistance during acceleration and does not drive the bus on its own.
This technology typically reduces fuel consumption by around 5?8% in city driving while maintaining the reliability and operating simplicity of a conventional diesel bus.
